Are You Crafty? YES!
Are you crafty? Do you live and die DIY? Is so, you could use your mad craft skills as an arts and crafts club leader for YES Prep North Central charter school. Clubs take place from 2:30-4:30 every Wednesday and leaders are paid $50 a week. YES Prep north central served students in grades 6th-11th, and is located at 13703 Aldine Westfield. If interested, please email Jayn Walter at jwalter (at) yesprep.org (to protect Jayn from the spam bots, I left out the @ and added spaces)
Wanna be Part of Sew Crafty?
It’s 2009! The birds are chirping, the wind is whistling, Houston is an Arctic 50 degrees - and Sew Crafty is looking for a new Craft Assistant! Our beloved Melissa I. will still be teaching and hanging out, but will be going full-time with a new position. We’re sad to see her go, but happy that she gets to do something she has always wanted to do! Have fun super lady!

That’s where you come in. We need another crackerjack peep to fill those big shoes Melissa I. left - think you’re up to the challenge? Email us at info @ sewcraftyhouston.com! (spaces added to trick the mail bots)
PS: That’s me with Bill Murray at Maker Faire. Except it’s not really me with BM - it’s a super photovoodo thing that Culture Pilot did. Because they’re awesome, that’s why.
Crafting the Crunch
The economy is acting funny and crafting is in a renaissance - coincidence? I don’t think so! When times get tough people rely on their ingenuity and, well, get crafty. Mending your own clothes, making your gifts and cooking at home are just three of the ways crafters and regular folks are making the best out of tough times.
Here are a few of my favorite DIY Recessionista finds:

1. Hermes DIY Paper Handbags - because nothing says awesome like papercraft and Birkins.
2. Credit Crunch Embroidery - Wow! Love it!
3. Burda Style - yes yes - we know they are now charging for most patterns, but it’s like $2 - 4 a download and you can print at home!
What’s your favorite recession tip, trick or recipe?

Etsy Sunday - Getting Organized in the New Year!
Confession: I’m a list maker. Tons of lists - hundreds maybe! And not in the cool High Fidelity way, more of the “Wow. I am losing my mind. What did I go to CVS for?” way. I make lists of what I need to do today, tomorrow, in the near future, far future - even lists of restaurants I want to visit! Until now, my lists have been relegated to Post-Its and scrap paper, but thanks to Etsy’s How-Tuesday, I can keep my lists together in a cute little book!
